Flooring

Flooring is one of our specialties.  More of our projects involve removing current flooring and replacing it than any other part of our business.

We can install anything from actual hardwood to engineered hardwood, tile and vinyl.

Things to Consider:

There are a number of things to consider when planning to replace floor covering and they include:

Types of Flooring available:

  • If you are not sure what type of flooring you want, before you decide, you should consider visiting a store where you can see a lot of different types of flooring.  While Home Depot and Lowe’s are readily available options, you might consider visiting a store that specializes in flooring like, for example, Floor & Decor.
  • Hardwood
    • Hardwood flooring is constructed on solid wood throughout each board
    • Typically not recommended for use on a ground level – especially with a slab
    • Typically the most expensive of the flooring options
    • Engineered Hardwood
      • Normally constructed of multiple layers of different
      • Looks like real hardwood – depending upon which product you buy
      • May be used on ground level
    • Laminate
      • Don’t necessarily ignore laminates as there are now ones that appear much like hardwoods
    • Vinyl
      • Depending upon where in your home you need new floor, consider vinyl – especially if you need something that is water proof.

Floating or glued down flooring?

You will need to decide if you want your new flooring (i.e., hardwood or engineered Hardwood) glued down to the sub-floor or if you want it to float.

Underlayment?

You will need to decide what type and quality of “underlayment” you will want.  This is the material that is installed between the flooring and the sub-floor.  This choice can impact the noise level associated with the flooring – especially the hardwood or engineered hardwood.
